Blank SMS messages after Android update

Hi

updated the firmware to 5.0 on my S5 this morning

Now when I try to view the SMS messages I cannot see what has been typed.

If I send a new message it goes ok but I cannot view the message stream just shows a blank background and nothing else.

I can see some text when in the message list, but click on a message comes back blank

Hi try clearing the data in the message app settings.

settings, apps, all, messaging (or whatever one you are using), clear data.

Have you tried switching to hangouts or something similar to see if that works.

You could also try a factory reset to get rid of all old remnants of the old  firmware and start as new.

Could be something a little corrupted with the messaging app, could be a dodgy update, did it come OTA?

If the data clearing/factory reset doesnt clear it it may need a new firmware flash.

There does seem to have been quite a bit of bother with Samsung OTA updates lately, hope the reset works.

Next time you get an update, can you try restarting the phone first?   I'm trying to find out whether issues with Samsung updates can be reduced if there's as little as possible in the system memory when the process is done.
