The screenshots of the one I mentioned appear to show a Transfer option.   Do a Google Play search and give it a go - after all, you can always uninstall it if you don't like it. :smileywink:

Ok - I did a Bing search and went for Coolmuster Android Assistant.

Downloaded, paid the fee and up and running full version. I paid a little extra for a Lifetime Licence.

It 'copies' all text messages either into Html or txt (etc!) and all fully readable/editable on the PC. So now I have all my texts both on the mobile and now readable on the PC too. It didn't transfer - it copied, which is what I wanted, as there is a difference. Transfer would have implied 'moving' the texts from the phone to the PC, which it didn't; just copied. However, I guess that transferring can be done with Coolmuster as there is much for me to learn with it.

Vice-versa - it can also import the messages back to the phone if they are inadvertently removed or lost on the phone - in fact extremly versatile software.

I also 'copied' all my contacts to the PC where they are presented in a database style format - once again readable and editable.

So, all in all a brilliant find and I am surprised that no-one else in Britain has used this kind of software except me - as no-one on the forum recommended it to me, as I tried so much over the past two years, Kies etc. etc. and Coolmuster was there all the time, albeit for purchase and not free? Perhaps I missed something on the forum, if so I apologise; although I do acknowledge that most may not want to read texts on their PCs anyway? May be it was just me.

Anyway, Coolmuster works.

Just noticed that Op: mrathb recommended Coolmuster way back in June 2015! Sorry - I missed it and thanks mrathb!

Useful to know re Contacts if you need them in a readable form.   As I have mine in Outlook, I have that.   If your contacts are sync'd with Google, you have a backup and they'll restore to any new device.   However, a backup never hurts.  I use the Export option and keep a vCard file in as many places as possible.
