Hi

What method are you using to sync.

If via data cable then please try another.

What are you trying to sync ?

Samsung Galaxy s²⁴ Ultra 512gb.

Using USB, it detects the Device only when switched to view Images but does notdetect for data?

It could be,

  • The USB cable is at issue.
  • The USB port on the laptop is at issue.
  • Ensure the phones settings are rightly set to the right mode. A pop up shows up on my phone to choose.
  • No firewall or security suite is blocking.
  • Any required drivers are downloaded for your particular laptop Os.

I use the Samsung Galaxy d7 edge and hook up to a Macbookair using the data cable and software called Android File Transfer.

Has it ever worked, or is this something that's started after an update (to either the phone or the laptop)?   Could you also check how you're telling thr laptop to connect to the phone?   I don't use PC sync in any form, so I'm not sure of the process, but the fact that it's only detecting in image view almost sounds as though it's connecting to the camera.

Connecting any external device (I'm talking about Windows here, and via the OS not any intermediary software) pulls up a list of options.   I always choose the "view files" one as it treats the device as external storage.

The phone may also throw up options.  When I connect to my car, I get options for charge only, view files etc.
