Be aware - be VERY aware
All the advice from Vodafone is that if you have global roaming set you need to do nothing before jetting off. CALL THEM - though whether it would have done me any good is debatable. I have just come back from 10 days in Mexico. They have charged me twice - online chat was no good. Then sent me text messages that if I continue to spend then they may suspend my service - I phoned and insisted that I speak to a UK call centre who told me no worries - my spend is £70 and my credit limit £120. Then they cut me off! I could only revert to online chat through a hotel Wi-fi to get my service back on - the best bit - once reconnecting (after complaining to the poor guy at the end of the chat) the first message I got was from Vodafone telling me they’ve turned off my services! Really? I am only grateful that I was staying in a hotel when they disconnected me and not travelling around Mexico. I expect to rely on my phone provider in these circumstances and Vodafone have shown themselves to be severely lacking. So be warned - you cannot reply on global roaming!

Thanks for getting in touch @clnot, I'm really sorry to hear you had problems whilst roaming in Mexico and understand how frustrating this must have been. It sounds like you reached your credit limit and I'm sorry if you were misadvised about this; it's in place to prevent our customers getting unexpectedly high bills.
I'm glad you managed to get it resolved in the end and apologise for any inconvenience that was caused in the meantime. If you have any questions about this before you travel again, don't hesitate to get in touch.

I think you have missed the whole point of this post.
Firstly - no where in a
the advice that Vodafone posts recommends checking your credit limit
Secondly - my service was stopped will a spend of £70 on a credit limit if £120
so once again - be very aware of global roaming with Vodafone !
