Gps On Dongle Sim

neilo1
Not applicable
Hi,
I have put my Sim card from my mobile broadband dongle into my Nokia N85 which seems to be working fine for the internet, I understand that I can't make or receive calls but I would really like to use the GPS feature on the phone but It won't find any satellites. Is this because the Sim is not enabled or do I have to change the settings on the phone

Many thanks

Hi geocal,

Assisted-GPS uses the internet to help speed up a GPS lock, so if as you say the internet is working fine, then so should GPS!

Please note that it can take almost 15 minutes to obtain the first lock if Assisted-GPS is disabled, and you will need clear line-of-sight with the sky, and preferably the horizon too. Also, ensure that the date and time on your phone is accurate, as this can also have an impact :)
