HTC U Ultra - can't send picture texts

Catty

I just bought an HTC U Ultra and took it to V/fone shop to be set up with new SIM etc. All is fine, except I have discovered I can't send a text with a picture in it. Ordinary texts are fine. Looked at V'fone support pages and followed instructions but still no good. Also chatted online with V/fone tech support and did what he said but that hasn't worked either. Still can't send a photo. The Ultra has to be set up for this manually which is what I have been trying to do. Anyone else had this issue and solved it, please?

Hi @Catty

As MMS texts are not part of the tariff texting allowance they are charged for. A person has to have a stable 3G signal with mobile data turned on.

Sometimes Customer Services have to provision the person's account for MMS so it maybe beneficial asking them to do this.

The Apn settings I use are in > https://www.teamknowhow.com/discover/discover/vodafone-apn-settings

And or text WEB to 40127.

Some phones have specific preference / settings in them that need mms toggling on.

As a side note I prefer to send pictures via email as then I'm not charged and mms messages have a file size limit but email does not.

WhatsApp and Viber as just one of two alternatives too.

Well, blow me down! Your instructions in the link were identical to the ones I followed, except for the 'authentication type' which I was told to leave blank. So just now I filled in PAP as per your link and tried to send myself a photo - YEP! IT WORKED! Thank you very much for that link! You'd think they would get it right on Vodafone's own help pages, though, wouldn't you! Thanks again. I hope this will help others who have the same problem.
