Hosted Email and BlackBerry ID

I wonder if a mod could help me with a couple of issues relating to the suspension of support for hosted email.

First, I attempted to set up a forwarding address following the instructions given here:

http://forum.vodafone.co.uk/t5/BlackBerry-Z10-and-BlackBerry-10/BlackBerry-10-OS-Hosted-email-addres...

However, my username/password combination is rejected. I use the same combination to successfully access BlackBerry World and my BlackBerry ID online. How can I retrieve the password for my hosted email if this is different?

Second, the page for forwarding hosted mail states that "If this email address is also your BlackBerry ID username, please go to Settings > BlackBerry ID to change your BlackBerry ID username."  However, the username does not appear to be an editable field. Is it possible to change the BlackBerry ID username associated with my Z10, or am I now stuck with a defunct email address for a username?

Many thanks,

Philip.

Hi sirgruffil,

You can have password recovery instructions sent to the email address that you use as your BlackBerry ID username.

For security purposes, your password recovery email can only be viewed on a computer, and it is not delivered to yourBlackBerry smartphone.

To recover your password, from a computer, visit www.blackberry.com/blackberryid. Click Reset your password. Complete the instructions on the screen.

With regards to your BlackBerry ID on your Z10, when you tap Settings > BlackBerry ID there should be an edit button that looks like a pencil Edit

Tapping this should give you the option to edit your ID

Hi Paul

Thanks for the reply.

Just to be clear, I am able to log in to my BlackBerry ID account (and BlackBerry World) using the combination of NAME@mobileemail.vodafone.net + PASSWD.  However, that combination is rejected when I try to redirect mail from my hosted email address using the web form.  Does this mean that the hosted email requires a different password from that used to log in to my BlackBerry ID account, or is it an error with the mail redirection web form?

On the face of it, I don't see how resetting the password for my BlackBerry ID account (which already works) is going to resolve the problem with redirecting the hosted mail.

Please forgive me if I am being really dumb!

Thanks,

Philip.

Hi sirgruffil,

The login for the hosted email address should match the one for the BlackBerry account.

Can you try the password reset, just to refresh things and clear up anything behind the scenes which may be causing the error? It will help just to rule out anything on that side of things if it doesn't fix it.

Dave

Hi Dave

I did as you suggested and changed the password for my BlackBerry ID, and used it to succesfully connect to my BlackBerry ID account online and via the handset. It also allowed me to access BlackBerry Protect, so clearly the username(email)/password combination matched.

However, the same combination of email/password was once again rejected when I tried to set up forwarding from my hosted email address. So it appears that the login for the hosted email account does not in fact match the BlackBerry ID.

Following Paul's advice, I have since successfully changed the email address associated with my BlackBerry ID, so this is not a major issue. However, it would be nice to know that any mail directed to the old hosted address would be forwarded.

Thanks,

Philip.

Hi sirgruffil,

Thanks for giving that a go.

Does the new email account work normally, or do you have any similar issues?

Also, do you get a specific error message or does the page just redirect?

Dave

Hi Dave

The new email seems to work fine.

When I try to set up forwarding, I receive the message "The email address and password combination are not valid."

Thanks again for your help.

Hi again sirgruffil,

I'm glad to see we got part of the way there, I'm not sure why you're getting this error now though so I'll do a bit of digging and get back to you

Paul

Hi again sirgruffil,

I've had a chat with our tech guys and they have advised me that all the info you need should be in the BlackBerry Knowledge Base.

Can you give it a read and let me know how you get on?
