Keep Getting "new Hardware Found" With Dongle

Hi, Been using vodafone payg dongle for a few weeks without a problem.

Removed the dongle to try in someone elses computer (It worked and they have also purchased one) - but since replacing in my own XP computer, it still works but when the computer starts up it says "found new hardware".

If I close this window, I can launch Vodafone connection page and all works fine - but under device manager, the dongle/modem has a yellow question mark and says no drivers !

Fortunately my connection is ok but it is very annoying to have this pop up "new hardware found".

Any suggestions ?

Thanks.

Hi,

Are you replacing in the same USB port as you originally used? Sometimes (for some obscure reason) XP will see something plugged into a different USB port as a new item, and try to reinstall the drivers for it, sometimes resulting in an error, even though the item worked fine on the original port.

Hope this is some help at all... If not, I don't know what to suggest...

Hey Wayjay,

Siddie is spot on here, its always a good idea to use the same USB port for the dongle due to how the registry works.

If you do get any problems connecting please let us know.
