M8/M9 Self help... (how to)

If you suspect something isn't working right with your HTC M8/M9 Phone, there is a built in Service menu that can help you test the fault yourself.

This could help you get a quicker repair or even help you solve the problem yourself...

Open the Phone App and paste the following Service code:

*#*#3424#*#*

Tap on the Accept button to agree and proceed to the Service menu.

You will then have access to 2 screens of diagnostic tests.

All the tests are safe with full on screen instructions given.

Just done the battery test on an M9, followed the instructions and it worked just fine, battery passed the test too !

That's good news 63johnw, just for everyone else reading this; 63johnw's phone was turning off even with a full charge. The phone needed to be charged for a full day before it would restart.
The issue could be a symptom of hardware (battery) or software.
This test has helped to rule out a battery fault, the next step will be to look at software.
