Mobile Data keeps turning itself on?

Hi,

My Samsung Galaxy S4 keeps randomly turning the mobile data on?

My data roaming is off and I turn the mobile data off, but it randomly appears to turn itself back on?

I have my apps set not to automatically update and to only use wireless, so do you know why my mobile data keeps turning itself on?

Luckily so far I have noticed quickly and turned it off again, but don't want it on as it drains my battery.

Thanks!

Slightly odd one, as the problem is usually the other way round.  I've had that happen after lengthy periods of little or no signal.

The first port of call would be a factory reset (don't forget to back up your data first).  If that doesn't fix it, try running the phone vanilla, with no additional apps installed, for a few days.  If it's stable, put the apps back one at a time until it recurs and you've found the culprit.

Funny that you should mention the periods of no signal, as I usually notice it at work and I have little or no signal there at all, although it seems strange that this should trigger the mobile data to turn on.

Hi hazeltiffany,

Has your phone always done this or has this recently just started?

If you’re having signal issues at work, you can find further network help here, with our troubleshooting guide.

Thanks,

Vodafone's inbuilt apps seem to do this for seeming scheduled update checks (not firmware) I've noticed it on my s4 mini and s2

Hi Sarah,
I have only noticed it happening recently, although I haven't had it long, so it may have always done it.

Hi hazeltiffany,

I'd give Hrym's suggestion a go. A factory reset should resolve this.

Thanks,
