Moving from Sky to Vodafone

Hi everyone, just wanted a little feedback from members.

I want to move from Sky's basic broadband to Vodafone's Fibre 38. I see a lot of horror stories on Facebook about Vodafone's customer service etc but never many positives. Of course people usually love to complain but when it comes to praising a service, they don't bother, therefore there's only ever negativity.

Just want some feedback really, on the Fibre 38 package itself and are the customer service really as bad as everyone makes out? lol

Also, I don't want to be without internet for any amount of time as I need it for work. If I order Vodafone, will it cut off my Sky before the activation date or will it just switch over all at once? I know in the past it's just switched over flawlessly but when I asked the live help team a few moments ago, they were pretty useless.

Any help appreciated.

You're welcome @GemKni

Please also be aware currently Vodafone will not release any settings for their routers so using your own isn't possible at this time.

This may or may not concerned you but I thought it worth mentioning.

Well I'm not having much luck. Got a text yesterday that my order has been cancelled so I phoned up and now I'm waiting for them to get back to me with a new date. I'm also going to have to contact Sky to make sure they keep my account active because I will be beyond annoyed if I get cut off and have nothing.

unfortunately Vodafone customer service has taken a battering in terms of quality in the last few years. The best service ever was from the web relations team on this forum but that stopped as well.

I have been a customer for over 15 years.  The last time I upgraded my phone was three years ago.

I have seen so many tempting offers out there that I rang the retentions team and asked if they could match or better as I had been such a long time loyal customer.  I was told the offers on the web are what you get.

After 15 years I am moving my number to another provider.  Years ago VF would have bent over backwards for customer retention.  And so it is with their customer service in general now.

Very dissapointing as they were absolutley stunning at looking after customers once upon a time.

The real test of any provider is when you need them to deliver on your commitment to them as a customer.  See what sky can do to keep hold of you as by the sounds of it VF can't even get the process of getting you on board right.

I would consider it a lucky escape. Stick with Sky or look elsewhere would be my advice.

Thing is, I'm leaving Sky because I just can't afford it any longer. I'm paying £30 a month for basic broadband, + £7.50 because I don't have their tv service. I wanted to upgrade it to fibre but it was gonna be over £60 a month which is disgusting and plus prices are going up again very soon. They didn't even bother to try keep me as a customer when I told them I was thinking of leaving due to expense. They basically just said okay bye and I spoke to multiple people on multiple occasions. Sadly I don't think any company these days cares about their customers.
