Must " Search for iPhone" be disabled in order to remove the Netlock ?

Hi Everyone, my uncle from the UK is currently staying over with us in Germany and he's letting me use his iPhone 6 Plus because my smartphone is currently broken.

He already requested to unlock the iPhone from the Netlock and it is currently in process of doing so. The problem is that he unfortunately forgot his iCloud password and everytime I try to enter a local SIM card, the device always asks for the iCloud password. We're not sure, if the iPhone is already unlocked and I would like to ask, if it's necessary to turn "Search for iPhone" off in order to unlock it via iTunes.

Every kind of help is appreciated and thank you in  advance.

P.S. Please forgive me, if my English is bad.

Apple's timescale is down to them, Vodafone have no control over it.

Even if Apple have unlocked the phone you will still need your uncles password to get pass the lock screen. Once the phone has been turned off in ios8 a password is required before you can use it.

So, there is the possibility that the iPhone is already unlocked but can not access it due to the to the iCloud restriction, correct?

It is possible that Apple have marked the phone as unlocked in their database, but, to complete the unlocking the phone must connect to iTunes with a sim that is different to the original network. To do that the phone needs to be activated and you are not able to do that without the password.

You mean the iCloud password, correct? Or is it a pasword sent in the confirmation E-Mail?

Seeing as your Uncle has forgotten his iCloud password I suggest he visits the following:

http://support.apple.com/en-gb/HT5787

It gives step by steps details on how to reset the password assigned to the iPhone you wish to check.

It is his iCloud password. If he has forgotten it follow the link that has been give no you above, answer the security questions and the password can be reset.

No password is sent in any email.

Okaaaaay, now I was able to deactivate " Search for iPhone " and the iPhone is still not unlocked. Its almost 3 weeks since then and I hope the job is getting done soon.

Hi @FadingGlow

That means the phone is still locked then.

How did your unlock request the phone to be unlocked?

Did he ever receive confirmation from Vodafone that the unlock was being requested?

Thanks,

Simon

Weeeeell, the phone is finally unlocked but I obtained the information when I spoke with someone from Apple and was able to confirm it. My uncle still did not get the confirmation E-Mail from Vodafone nor Apple.
