Network??? Imei

I have a iPhone 6 from the Carphone warehouse with a Vodafone simcard. Before I put the Vodafone sim in I put my old simcard in first. Does Vodafone still have my IMEI without the sim ever being in the device ??

No as CPW supply the phone and marry up the SIM card with it. 

Vodafone wouldn't have the imei number of your iPhone. 

Even going the route of getting an o2 payg sim and trying to unlock that way won't work as they'd most probably direct you back to GiffGaff even tho GiffGaff are a MVNO on o2 and owned by o2 GiffGaff is still considered its own Network.

On a personal side note I really wish CPW Employees would strongly emphasise not to insert any other Networks SIM card or even insist on inserting the relevant SIM card before the customer leaves the shop.

When  upgrade a customer in house or open up a new contract I've overheard the Specialist push to insert the SIM card.

Totally appreciate what your saying. 

One last resort if you get stuck is to sell the iPhone and use the funds to put towards another iPhone that's either fully unlocked or already locked to Vodafone. Unfortunately you may take a financial hit this way as you may need to put towards another phone. 

One company that buys and sells mobile phones as well as other gadgets etc is CEX who have shops on the Highstreet in most cities.

A person has to be a member to sell to them which is free to do but you need a couple of forms of I.D.

But why are you so intent on knowing about Vodafone and your IMEI number? What importance does that have?

I don't mind paying a bit extra to get another phone but it's the carry on!
I am in town tomorrow so I'll pop in and I'll just take my drivers licence?? Thanks again for all this help!!

No worries. 

The thing is even if you managed to get the iPhones IMEI number listed on your Vodafone account they still wouldn't be able to unlock as its not locked to Vodafone so it's pointless looking at that avenue to see if Vodafone can unlock it.
