Hi RoyP,
Thanks for getting in touch! Hmm this sounds very strange indeed. I'm sure I can get some answers for you though! First of all is this a prepay modem or a contract one? Also which operating system are you running on the machines you tried it in, is it Mac or Windows and which version?
Finally which lights (if any!) are flashing on the device? Once I have more details I can do some brainstorming for you![]()
Cheers, Ben

Hi RoyP,
Thanks for getting back in touch. This does sound like a strange one, however I'm sure I can get to the bottom of this for you![]()
Now, I see that the modem model has not been mentioned anywhere, however if it is a K3760 (The Black Pro modem) then this is a problem that I have come across before. I'm going to list some instructions below, it may look fairly complicated but don't worry it's easier than it looks![]()
-Firstly, ensure that the modem is plugged in and then fully close the VMC software (Go to File > Close). I'd also remove any other USB devices.
-Go to Start > Control Panel > System
-Click on the hardware tab at the top and then click on device manager
-Scroll down the list until you see Universal Serial Bus Controllers, click on the + to the left of this.
-In the sub-list that shows check to see is a Mass Storage Device or Composite Device listed.
-If so then right click and then uninstall.
-Unplug the modem and wait 30 seconds
-Plug the modem back in. If all goes well after about 30 seconds or so the device manager screen should start "bouncing up and down".
-Once everything has settled (Usually after a couple of minutes) reload VMC and try connecting.
Let me know how you get on with the above. If this doesn't work at all then I suspect that the problem may lie with the modem itself as you mention this has happened on two PCs. If so then our Repairs Thread details what would be done next.
