Requested a nuc code. I've now received an email saying my emei number is incorrect. I've tripple checked both using the *#06# and on the back of phone under the battery and they are the same. Is it possible that the records at vodafone are incorrect? I bought tbe phone new, just a fairly basic samsung, and been using it on the talktalk/Vodafone network for 3 years. Vodafone are now suggesting I buy a free sim and use it for 30 days then Re apply for a nuc code. I can't be without my phone and number for that long..plus the extra 10 days at the end of the 30 days to get this simple matter resolved.

I think the issue here is that Vodafone didn't originally supply the phone.
If they can't see the phones imei number on their systems then they won't be able to process an unlock.
Who exactly did supply it @Pem2018
The avenue of using a Vodafone Payg SIM card in the phone and making calls etc for 30 days abd then requesting the unlock with the new payg account details is certainly a way to unlock it.

I think I'm going down the pay sim card route, it's all too difficult!,
I originally bought the phone online from Tesco Direct.

If the phone accepts a Vodafone Payg SIM card then that's the way of proceed.
I understand your using talk talk mobile which is a MVNO using Vodafones network.
But bought the phone from Tesco MVNO which uses the o2 network.
Is this an iPhone per chance?

Hi @Pem2018
When Vodafone sold the S3 on contract it was before they decided to start locking phones sold by them to the network. If you purchased the phone unlocked through Tesco Direct and have been using your Talk Mobile SIM, it's very unlikely the phone is locked to any network. You need to try an alternative SIM in the phone, it more than likely you will have any issues using the alternative network SIM and will find the phone unlocked.
The S3 was one of the best phones made by Samsung, I was quite sad when mine broke, it served me well.

Unfortunately the phone is locked, I tried with a new 3 sim.
Thanks for your thoughts, I'm going to buy a vodafone sim and we will see whether, in 30 plus days time, whether the phone can be unlocked.

Hi,
I have the same problem of this thread.
I fill in the form 3 or 4 times and always received a mail with "Thanks for getting in touch about unlocking a phone. Unfortunately, we can’t do this because the serial number (IMEI) you provided doesn’t match the one on your account.
I started a chat, they ensured me was solved...and a couple of hours later I received the same message.
How have you resolved it?
Thanks

Ok but do be sure to use the Payg SIM card by making calls and sending texts etc.
