Hi

Newbie here so apologies if this is in the wrong place!

basically i am without wifi for a while and been using my allowance for basic browsing/social media yet my "os android" was ober 3gb last month.  I have disabled background data, installed "mobiwol" firewall....which also eats away at mu usage, Watchdog 3G "which shows this as os services and other" and already this month (cycle started 11th) i've gone through 500mb of data when ive barely used it!

Any ideas who this can be managed as before i know it i'll run out of allowance.

cheers

Hi

I've performed a few searches and one hit was from a forum from a Person with a similar issue.

They posted

"I think I might have figured it out. On my nexus, I had preloading of youtube on wifi and didn't on the LG G2. I also read that youtube displays as Android OS data even through Youtube is listed under the data usage. I checked my bill online, shows 98mb at 12:45PM today, and I know it was youtube, but youtube shows 10mb and Android OS has 100MB. "

Google returned a few hits on this subject.

Hope you don't mind me plugging away at this with you.

Look at the first answer in this link http://android.stackexchange.com/questions/40446/why-is-android-os-uploading-so-much-data

"I kept investigating and found this very interesting article on Android data usage. Apparently Google has began expanding its cloud-based backups of the phone settings so that it now also does backups of the data of some apps. So, I turned off "Back up my settings" in the Privacy settings and whoopiedoo, the sending stopped and the data traffic returned to a normal amount!"

Hmmmm.

I'll keep looking and if I see anything further I'll post it.

For now if your on Wifi I would turn off Mobile Data in settings of the phone which will stop any connection to Vodafone's data services. Just remember to toggle it back on when you leave WiFi range.

i "think" it may be fixed and has been behaving since i unchecked the "developer options" in settings.

Fingers crossed but the OS hasnt moved as much as it has been doing.
