on the side of my handset under the volume buttons the casing has cracked, is there anywhere i can buy a replacement one?

Possibly not from Vodafone but you could look at places like eBay for non working models etc to use it for parts. 

Some Highstreet Stores buy and sell phones such as CEX where you could look at picking up a model to use for parts too.
