Hi David, and welcome to the Community.
There have been a few enquiries about this recently, and I haven't seen what I'd regard as a general solution. A couple of relevant threads which might help:

https://forum.vodafone.co.uk/t5/iOS/NAT-type-3-whilst-tethering-PS4-how-can-I-fix-this/m-p/2553098
I'm by no means convinced that it's a problem caused by the manufacturer of the box in question - a suggestion that some network ports aren't configured correctly strikes me as possibly more likely, but I've not seen any suggestions on how to fix that.

I hope that one of the Vodafone Team may know the answer - I certainly don't!
I did a bit more searching, but didn't come up with anything that seemed to help. https://forum.vodafone.co.uk/t5/Mobile-Broadband/Vodafone-R216-4G-Mi-FI-6GB/m-p/2492726#M31928 sounded thoroughly discouraging, but it is over a year old, so I hope that things may have moved on since then.

Well to my disbelief I now can’t even log on to the device from anything?
what am I to do now?

Heavens! Does anything on https://support.vodafone.co.uk/Vodafone-products-and-services/Mobile-Wi-Fi-and-data-dongles/ help at all? Or the device guide? There's a link to device guides on the Support page.
BTW, assuming you eventually get this sorted, something that has crossed my mind is that gaming can use a lot of data - make sure that you have turned on the data cap on your account.

Annie,
I think I know what the issue is..
All mobile broadband have a private ip and this hinders the traffic between consoles to there servers.
Am I able to make my ip public through Vodafone?
I have been reading on the 3 forums that they are making customers ip addresses public on request to can fix there strict NAT issues.
The community managers are able to do this over on 3....
Is this at all possible with you guys, I don’t really want to cancel by contract at go over to 3 but I will if nothing can be done.
Many thanks
