Hi @Mags2802
No it's not common.
Tips to try.....
Check the charging port for dust lint.
Check the charging cord/plug.
Try an alternative charging cord/plug.
Try hooking upto a Computer to see if it charges that way.
Soft reboot the phone by turning it off and on.
Factory or Hard Reset it after making a back up as this process will delete data saved in the storage memory.
Perform any firmware updates.
Contact Samsung Uk Support via Samsung Uk Support.
See if you have a Samsung Service Centre near you via Samsung service-location.
Samsung apply a 24 Month Warranty on their phones ,12 Months on Batteries and Accessories.
Vodafone also apply the 24 Month Warranty so they could send it away to a Repair Centre if the phone was supplied by them, and depending on your Contract type offer a Loan phone if they have one in stock. When-I-buy-a-device-from-Vodafone-how-long-does-the-warranty-last.
Neither would cover issues caused by a drop or water damage which would show up internally via water indicators.
My advice is to speak with Samsung first.
They'll assess the phone , software and battery.
If you have to send the phone off take Date/Time stamped pictures of it and one of it turned on to prove its condition prior to sending off.
Hope all goes ok.

Thank you I will try charging it via comp at work. My colleague also bringing her charger to work for me to try. Sadly I'm not near a Vodafone shop or Samsung as stay on an island.

You're welcome:)
Trying another charging cord is definitely a good troubleshooting tip. Look inside the charging port as I mentioned too for any dust / lint.
Clean carefully and don't use any type of compressed air as this can drive dust etc further up into the phone.
Appreciate your not close to those outlets but you can still use their online support sites and phone contact.
They maybe able to use postal means / courier to return the phone.

Still try your colleagues charger please.
In my experience I've known a charger not work with one device but works with another.

Phone hospital?
Please be aware that if work is carried out on a phone by an unauthorised engineer then the remaining manufacturing warranty would become voided.
