Sure Signal not working

rnm
4: Newbie

My SS hasn't worked for some time. I wonder whether it has anything to do with system upgrades on my android phone?

Symptoms. Mostly got just one light on, sometimes none even though there is no problem with the power connection. Then sometimes get two lights but never the fourth. My internet connection is strong. I am a BT Infinity user but cannot check port forwarding ( = port clamping??) on the router because I do not know the name of the SS application. The SS is recognised as a connected device however. We have very poor signal in this part of Cambridgeshire. I need this fixed, otherwise there is no point in having SS and I will have to try and find a provider with better coverage. Ihave tried the full restart procedure for the SS but that didn't help.

@rnm

Have you tried what @cineriv has suggested?

I've looked around for a suitable power unit but do not have one with the right specs. I am reluctant to fork out £12 on the chance that a faulty power unit might be the problem. I was hoping the information I supplied, as requested, would throw some definitive light on the problem. If that is not the case, and you can offer no further sugestions, then I will have to look for a new provider. I have no signal at all in my home and very litttle when I go for a walk in the garden. This is not good service and certainly not the service I was promised when I bought the SureSignal.

Hi mm,

Your light sequence and serial number indicates to me that you may have a degraded power supply lead on a V1 Sure Signal so replacing the power supply is fairly cheap and simple.

But firstly, have a look around for a suitable unit with a 12 Volt output @ around 1.5Amp capacity that you could 'borrow' to prove the fault. Suitable units can be found on external hard drives, monitors, printers, routers etc.etc.

New replacements are available from Amazon or Ebay and cost around £10 -12 inc. delivery.

Regards,

Mike.
