Sure Signal with Sky Broadband

I have just received a new VSS-3 and connected it to my Sky Router (Sagem router), also registered it correctly via "myvodafone".

However it doesnt seem to work, the red power light is on and the internet & signal white lights are on.  But the handset light isnt on and the unit is not working.

I contacted Vodafone support this afternoon and they reset my VSS-3 and i turned off and back on my 3G signal on both my phone and iPad, but still is not working.

I was then told that i need to ensure certain PORTS are open on my router.  I contacted SKY and they informed me that they dont support this issue.

Can anyone help me please?

Regards

Andy

Hi marsden2809,

I can see that the Sure Signal has connected since that last post, so that's a change straight away.

Is this working for you now? I don't want to risk fiddling with things further if it's sorted.

Hi it has connected but still keeps cutting out and getting orange flashing globe, thanks Jason

Hi marsden2809,

If the globe was white and pulsing I'd say that it was re-initialising, and if all the lights were flashing then it would mean the box was overheating. Which other lights are lit or flashing on there?

Also:

 - Can you check the Ethernet port lights for me and let me know if they're lit, off or flashing?

 - Make sure the Sure Signal is in a well-ventilated area to avoid any possible overheating issues.

 - Ensure these ports are open for forwarding on the router - 8, 50, 123, 500, 1723, 4500.

Let us know if this helps.

Dave

Hey sorry for jumping in on a thread but I also have a problem with my SS and this seems to be the only thread that has some answers.  I was previously with Talk Talk which worked fine, but I have recently changed to Sky broadband and since have constantly had e-mails and texts asking to confirm my address/postcode, which I have done several times only to get the same response.  My SS now only has a static red light showing on the front (no white lights as previous). I recently spoke to a Vodofone shop assistant who advised that the issue may be that I am now using Sky broadband.  Information as requested of other users in thread as below;

Your speed test results from  -  Download 7.84 Upload 0.86
Your ping test results from 66ms Jitter 2ms Line Quality B MOS 4.37
Your external IP address from 5.64.18.188

Your Sure Signal serial number: 40120121450

Can anyone help?  Thanks in advance.

Hi rossco87

Thanks for your post.

Your tests look absolutely fine so there’s no problem with your line. If your Sure Signal was working fine before you switched then it’s unlikely to be a hardware problem.

Did you change your router when you switched? If so can you check the required ports are open and your MTU is set to 1500 as it shows here?

Thanks

Simon

Hi,

Im too having problems with Sure Signal 3. I bought a Pay monthly Nokia 925 and a sure signal because I live in the country and get "No Service" so the sure signal is Vital. The Sure Signal connects to my Sky router but after a period of days (2 or 3) just the red light is on? Ive held the reset button to reset and that solved it but again after 3 days its gone back to red light?

I only took the contract out a month ago and seem as I getting "No Service" without the Sure Signal the phone is pretty useless. Would I be eligible for a refund?

Thanks

Ian.

Hi iggy65,

So we can take a proper look at this, we'll need a little more information.

 - Your Sure Signal serial number

 - Your speed test results from here.
 - Your ping test results from here.
 - Your external IP address from here.

We'd also need the results of a traceroute.

On a PC

  •  Click on Start and select Run
  •  Type CMD into the Run box and press enter/click ok
  •  A black box will appear.
  •  In this box type tracert 212.183.133.177 press Enter
  •  Paste the output of this command into your reply.

On a Mac

  • On a Mac:
  • Open Terminal (Applications, Utilities)
  • Type traceroute 212.183.133.177 and press Enter
  • Paste the output of this command into your reply.

Also, can you confirm if you followed these steps when you reset the Sure Signal?

  • Locate the button on the base of the box next to the Ethernet ports.
  • Press and hold the button for approximately 30 seconds.
  • Once the lights come back on, release the button.
  • The Sure Signal will come online in around 1 hour.

I'm having the same problem.  I moved house in May and moved to Sky DSL. I re registered the device but It has not worked since.  I have gone through a a whole bunch of resets and tests with a Vodafone call centre technician in Cairo but it is still not working including opening ports etc.  I've read online that some Sky ips are blocked.

Serial Number: 40112894198

Could you check?

Sky IP     94.5.122.89

Hi rochep

I've checked the IP address, and this is fine.

The serial number is showing as not valid, can you check this for me?

Cheers
