Unfortunately contacts have stopped working

Hi...I have a Galaxy S7 edge...yesterday for no apparent reason, I touched the green phone icon to make a call, it loaded but seconds later it crashed and a message appeared saying 'unfortunately contacts have stopped working' this happens each time I try to make a call via the green phone icon. I have tried clearing the data and cache...still the same..I've not had any updates. Any ideas what this could be?

Hi. Have you tried turning the phone off then back on?

Don't know if this will help but I have seen people say disabling Google+ sometimes sorts this.

Failing that a factory reset (drastic) would be my next suggestion but make sure you back everything up first.

@Brian2412 There are a lot of posts dotted aroung regarding problems that Google+ causes.

As @63johnw has suggested the only possible resolution is to do a factory reset after first making a backup of all the data.

I've uninstallEd Google + as I had read that as well..really annoying as I cannot make a call from the green phone icon

As a last resort maybe create a back up to preserve your data and Factory Reset.
