I have been with Vodaphone for around 6 years now and Ihave just come to the end of my current 24 month contract.
I like the look at the Galaxy s6 edge, however, cannot believe how much the monthly costs are. I thought mine was expensive at £36 but the prices on this phone seem to be around another £20 extra.
Please can someone help me to see if there is a way I can get this phone for a reasonable price without having to leave vodafone?

I thought the Vodafone 24 month contracts were too expensive.
It's much cheaper on 24 months with Carphone Warehouse, EE etc because they let you pay more upfront.
I prefer a 12 month contract though and only Vodaphone do them.
I asked Vodafone if I could pay more upfront to reduce the monthly cost on a 24 month contract but they just wouldn't budge.
So I just coughed up for a 12 month.

The price of handset has rocketed in the last few years, My first smartphone contract was £28, the current handset I'm using would be £44 (at the cheapest). I accept that you do get a lot for you money now (especially when you factor in the like of Spotify or NowTV) but it does still feel expensive.
I no longer get phones on contract though, it's a more expensive way of buying them. If you can afford the inital outlay then buy the phone outright and get a SIM only contract you could save hundreds of pounds (my last phone was ~£250 cheaper over the 2 years)

If you get it from Carphone Warehouse you can pay various different amounts of upfront payments from small amounts up to £350 to get the monthly cost and ultimately, the whole cost down.

That's because dealers like Carphone Warehouse have a completely different financial business model to networks. They also source their handsets in a different way. There are some advantages to dealing with a dealer but lots of disadvantages, like no cooling off period for instance.

Ring retentions - they should be able to do something for you.

Probably because of the 4G superfast band.
