This thread has been created to discuss and troubleshoot the version 3 Sure Signal when the light sequence is as follows:

  • Power: Flashing
  • Internet: Off
  • In Service: Solid Orange
  • In Use: Solid Orange

Cause

This light sequence indicates the Sure Signal's not active and it has been unable to authenticate on the Vodafone network

Troubleshooting

Please restart your Sure Signal. If the symptoms continue please add the following details to this thread:

  • Your speed test results from here
  • Your ping test results from here
  • Your external IP address from here
  • Your Sure Signal serial number
  • The results of a traceroute

Traceroute command:

On a PC:

  1. Click on Start and select Run
  2. Type CMD into the Run box and press enter/click ok
  3. A black box will appear
  4. In this box type tracert 212.183.133.177 press Enter
  5. Paste the output of this command into your reply

On a Mac:

  1. Open Terminal (Applications, Utilities)
  2. Type 'traceroute 212.183.133.177'
  3. Press Enter

This will help us get the quickest possible resolution for you.

Thanks

Hi Ian,

Strange it should be present at 9am it certainly wasnt working at 11ish when I checked.  It had been left overnight to give it plenty of time to do its stuff.

/update: Looking at the NAT sessions it has ports open but still isn't working:

500, 212.183.131.131

47754->1599, 69.195.140.124

Is this what you saw at 9am yesterday?  The VSS reaching out and failing? Or was it actually connected?

Address change was due to me reregistering the VSS to ensure that there wasnt a glitch in the system. I did it when I tested it on the alt connection.... I think.

It is now where it should be, and won't be moving anytime soon. I'll amend the address again.

/edit: Appears I already did.

Rok.

"LSDWho -  Everything looks ok on the information you supplied.  Can you try to reset the Sure Signal please?"

Ian,

Thanks for your response and apologies for the delay in responding.

Right, have reset the SureSignal and this time I got the internet light flashing for well over an hour, then eventually settled on "Internet" and "Phone" lights on steady orange with the power flashing red.

Cheers,

LSDWho

The vigor 2820 has its own VPN capabilities.  All this is switched off otherwise it would intercept the traffic destined for the VSS.  I can borrow another 2820 I will configure on the connection that I previously tested it working on.

Hello,

I have had a Sure Signal running for some time at one of our sites but in the last few weeks it has stopped working and showing the above LED status.

Nothing has changed at this site i.e. router or internet changes & all recomended ports are open.

I seem to be getting out beyond our ISP so I assume the problem is elsewhere? If you could help it would be much appreciated.

Unit sits with red light solid, internet light pulsing. After a few minutes it goes to red flashing with right hand two solid orange.

Not had this working for a year or so, not needed it. Now required and unfortunately not functioning!

The external IP has changed since it was last working, could be the cause.

I've called Vodafone CS and they have issued a "resynchronisation" but I'm unaware as to what this does (as was the phone agent).

Required items below:

Speed test:

60mbps down

18.5mbps up

Ping test:

33ms ping

1ms jitter

0% packet loss

External IP can be reported privately.

Power cycled and reset.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Hi james,

I can see that my colleague performed a resync at 17:01 today.

You just need to reset it now.

Find out how to do that here:

  • Unplug the ethernet cable from the Sure Signal.
  • Locate the button on the base of the box next to the Ethernet ports.
  • Press and hold the button for approximately 30 seconds.
  • Once the lights come back on, release the button.
  • Plug the cable back in.
  • Allow around one hour for the Sure Signal to come back online.

Let us know if that makes a difference.

Thanks

Ian

Hi Ian,

Thanks for your prompt reply. Without doing anything, I came back to the office and found a box with white lights on. Test calls completed perfectly and full signal.

Cheers,

James

Hi,

Had this SureSignal working for quite a while and then left it off, as I was away from that house, for a little while. Tried plugging it back in the other day and this problem was what greeted me. Since nothing has changed on my end I'm assuming this is something you can sort out from your side. Hope you can help!
