There's some very useful general advice here on things to do before you travel.

 

If you are already covered for this by your Pay Monthly bundle, I'd expect that you are already opted in; be careful not to opt out accidentally!

Yeah they told me they transferred the number but they didn't do this there was no 'notes' left on the system which there should of been

It can sometimes depend on the knowledge of the agent you speak to.

If this has happened recently regarding cancelling the contract then if the number has not yet been recycled Vodafone may be able to re activate it back to you.

If it has been recycled which it probably has even though we were told it was going to be switched would it be easier if she went with another network provider and then transferred the number on to it?

Probably not because the number is no longer latched to your account

Theirs no number in essence to port to another network.

It's worth asking them to see if they can return the number to you.
