WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE! Incorrect default on my account and no record of my account to resolve!?

Applied for a mortgage to be told I have a default from 2013 for £183 from Vodafone Ltd. I was told I cannot get a mortgage until this default is satisfied. I contacted vodafone for more information as I wasn’t aware of this. However, i was told they cannot find an account for myself and I only ever had a pay as you go account on their system which was cancelled. They just told me not to worry as shows as no outstanding balance on their system. However this doesn’t help me as this doesn’t show on my credit report and they have told me they cannot remove as they cannot find an account. I think it is disgusting how a company can give someone a default and effect their credit and not even have a record of an account on their system. This default is effecting me financially and I cannot get a mortgage because of vodafone and all I get told is there is nothing they can do as they cannot find the account without account number and phone number. It is not my job to find the account it is Vodafone’s job to keep a record of customers accounts. Especially if they issued a customer a default! How can they expect me to details of an account I wasn’t even aware of. Vodafone customer service team are rude and if they don’t know how to deal with the issue they just put you on hold for ages hoping you hang up or transfer you to someone else without even telling you they are transferring you on. I even went to a vodafone store which they advised they couldn’t help and I had to ring customer services. I spoke to a manger in the technical department and he kept not listening to me and just told me back to the store even though I already told him that I had been and they couldn’t help. I have been passed back and forth for the past 5 days and not one single person including mangers have a clue how to help or what they are doing!! Vodafone are the worst customer service team I’ve ever come across. They can issue defaults but when you ring up to solve them there isn’t any record! Joke of a company!

Have they checked your address details on their systems to see if anything comes up? Surely if something like this has happened Vodafone would be required to have a billing address on record for you to even be accepted as a contract customer?

Personally, I'd wait for a member of their forum team to get in touch on this thread. They'll give you instructions on how to get in touch by email.

Hi @Lee93

Im not surprised your upset.

Experian can help and guide you on this too.

Your able to put on a Notice of Correction on your Credit File so anyone conducting a search can see in your own words why it shouldn’t be there.

Here is a help thread I put together with lots of further information in > Default-on-your-Credit-File-How-to-add-a-Notice-of-Correction.
