I was hoping someone could help me.
My master socket is in the hall way, but I would like to have the router in the living room, so I could connect various devices to it with an ethernet cable (Xbox, Blu-ray player etc).
Is it possible to do this? If so what cable would I need and would i have to do anything special to the master socket?
P.S. The master socket is just a standard one and could be a few decades old. My fibre speed is 75mbs.

You could run a CAT5e (Network cable) from the router located in your hall to the location where all your devices are and then attach a Switch.
So you would be going Master Socket to modem/router (Via RJ11) and then run a CAT5e to where your devices are, attach a small network switch (4, 5 or 8 port) and then attach each of your devices to that switch.
Alternatively you need a long RJ11 cable to run from the Master Socket to your modem/router and then connect each of your devices directly into the modem/router.

or use a pair of "ethernet of power line" devices to extend the wired network out over your home wiring. Most of them have an ethernet port, and you can hang a small ethernet switch off that to host all your devices.
That's working great for my media centre at home, which is far away from the reach of the broadband router.
