email to SMS gateway

Is there an email to SMS gateway for the pay as you go accounts?  I thought there was at one time, (10digitnumber@vodafone.net) but that does not seem to be working.

I'm not sure that I understand the question - what is it that you are trying to do?

I'm trying to send an email to a gateway that will forward it to SMS.  In the past you could send an email to <your number>@vodafone.net and it would get forwarded to your phone via SMS.

I don't think this is currently a service offered by VF in the UK (even for contract customers)

Thats what I was afraid of.  I've seen other posts that say pretty much the same thing, but they didn't say for what service, (PAYG vs contract).

I was hoping to get a definitive answer either way.

I would think the feature vanished when vodafone removed the public smtp gateways a few years back.

There are plenty of companies online that offer the service, but looks like very few (if any) networks in the UK support this any more.
