If that's happened after a firmware or appp update, it sounds as though Samsung may have removed the facility.   Can you simply edit the entry and change the date that way?

i could but it would be very slow. I keep my urgent to do list as a list of tasks on the calendar days and anything undone gets dragged to the next day. altering the dates instead would work but it would be a daily pita.

is there any way of finding out if an update caused this, or even if there's been one?

Could you consider a separate tasks app such as Tasks Free, which would keep your tasks in a simple list, meaning you don't have to keep moving them around.

I use aCalendar, which has an integrated task manager in the paid-for version and can (I think) display tasks in the calendar if you want it to.  I use it becuse it hs a similar look and feel to sPlanner (which I like, but can't get on my HTC).

All these are workrounds, of course, if you can't get the original app functioning as you want it to.
