Switching from Sky to Vodafone - wasn't activated as planned today..now I have no dial tone....help

Switching from Sky to Vodafone....activation planned for today, no broadband or phone since first thing this morning,  called vodafone and their saying Openreach didn't send an engineer and they don't know why..so now I have nothing, no working phone line or broadband, all they can do is wait for openreach to inform them of a delay??

 

My parents are elderly and cannot be without a phone line, anyone been in the same position?, how do I go about contacting openreach?
