USB HDD. Fat 32. Not supported.

Ok, I've found a couple of other posts, but nothing with a solution. I have a FAT 32 formatted 500Gb Buffallo HDD which I used with both my Talk talk router, and lastly my BT Home Hub 3 with no problems. Now I've come to Vodafone I've tried to plug the device into the USB port on the side. On the first night, this appeared to be causing the router to crash every 2-3 minutes. The Talk talk one exhibited the same errors until I'd formatted it via the router, but the vodafone router just displays the error "USB device not supported".

I've checked the help page, which just says it needs to be formatted to FAT32, which it is.

Any ideas?
