Postponing Activation?

So, my Vodafone internet was suppose to be activated today. 

The engineer came round and done all he could do as he was unable to enter the property (totally understand this) 

All seemed great, but it seems the BT box in my house has damaged cables and the engineer wasn't able to fix these. 

The wifi light was white on the router (same as the power)

But the internet was flashing red - assuming due to the damaged cables. 

As I can not use the service till an engineer can come into my house, is it possible to postpone activation / billing till this has been sorted? 

Trying to get answers from live chat, but I thought I'd give here a shot - may be quicker.
