The answer is normally up to 3/4 days after placing the order before it gets confirmed .
Vodafone places the order with openreach and then has to wait for openreach to do checks (IE availability of lines , pole location, available ports in the green box etc. .
After the order has been confirmed by openreach then you should get a confirmation email from vodafone confirming the engineer appointment and activation date,
Its very bad practice, how you don't get a confirmation email after you placed the order saying welcome to vodafone, this is what you have ordered so you can check its right and in a few days you get an another email confirming the order is going ahead

Your order confirmation should take just a few minutes @gipjon, but can take a little longer depending on how and when you submitted it. If you're still awaiting your confirmation, pop our Social Media team a private message, including your full name, address, a link to this thread and your Community ID and we'll be happy to check why this has been delayed.

OR - Openreach
Be careful as Vodafone can't control BT/ OR and won't even tell you until the activation date and any cockups. I am a victim of this - twice with Vodafone..
Most of the times they will blame on BT / OR and sighting we can't confirm until we speak to them.. (OR) but they won't speak to them until you actually call to ask, why is my line not activated ?
