Very funny vodafone. Close the relevant thread then put me back on the Edinburgh gateway - and my connection was reset to do this. Really really funny. To say I'm pee'd off is an understatement. I should not be getting a better internet connection by tethering with my phone (4G). I'm running a trace now for 24hrs which I'll paste here tomorrow night.
I shouldn't have to connect to a French VPN to get a decent connection to UK servers. And so the saga resumes, part deux............

Just noticed my I.P. changed at 06:00 today. I'm now back on Surry Quays. Yay.

Nice one @Jayach
My case went to level 3 so I had to suffer the indignity of using the THG3000 for a day to get them their evidence they want. Sent it in an email and........
40 minutes later case was closed.
It shows things can be done in less than an hour when they put their mind to it.

I'm still on the Edinburgh gateway but things have improved hugely. As the speed is much better and Latency has dropped to a steady 16ms I really don't have much to complain about. Could still be better.

Like, WHAT?
I reckon I'll be able to diagnose this myself soon, when I finish the level 3 ICT course.
Yeah, I've been itching to slip that one in - maybe I'll be taken more seriously round here (not likely) 🤣

Thanks to the threads on here I discovered my new fibre 500 connection is also routed via Edinburgh, despite me being 450 miles south of there 😑. Is it worth me going through the customer service maze or shall I just wait and hope to be rerouted nearer to home?

I don't think going through customer service would get us anywhere. We had a gigantic thread last year on the same topic, we furnished our details to Vodafone via twitter and got nowhere with it. Over the time afterwards some of us found the routing got fixed, and a few like myself got bounced a couple of times and ended up on Edinburgh again.
I'm not going to discourage you at all, I'll be interested to see if you can get any results.

I wish I could help more, but all I can really do if needed is provide images of what those router reports are supposed to look like. It's not even as if BT's routing is perfect either, my IPv4 data gets routed via Telehouse in London when I'm on Teesside - but even then I've not got the delay you guys see!

Has anyone that's been rerouted ever initiated it by powering off the ONT? Or is it always after a down period caused by Vodafone?

No downtime to notice, it can happen on a live connection. Maybe a couple of seconds but I never noticed.
Turning the ONT off overnight does nothing (except maybe raise an alert on openreach's system). Gateway is provisioned by vodafone's servers

Just a wee update (yeah, a funny).
Everyone experiencing these routing issues should checkout https://www.whatismyip.com/
Vodafone use their database, so there's no wonder we've been routed so badly. According to Whatismyip I'm in Aberdeen so it makes sense I'm routed via Edinburgh. Next time my routing changes (if it ever does) I've no doubt that database will have been changed. For now I'm going to try contacting them to see if they would consider updating the database.
