Thinking of switching but need advice re using an analogue telephone via VOIP

I currently have a UniFi Dream Machine Pro that is like to use instead of the Vodafone router as it allows me to manage my APs and get stats

could I for arguments sake put the Vodafone router after the UDMP? E.g the WAN of the Vodafone router goes into the LAN of the UDMP router? So I can use the analogue landline with the VOIP Vodafone provide?

ubiquiti do provide UniFi talk, but it appears to be U.S only

thanks

Good luck with your own VoIP supplier, it's something I have never dabbled with either.

If you do try to get the Vodafone router and it's VoIP implementation working behind your own router, let us know how it goes.

I'd try myself, but no FTTP services available here.

It has been mentioned before, but wasn't too successful. The next thought was to try putting the Vodafone router in the DMZ of the 3rd party router, but I don't think the poster reported if it worked.

There is no problem getting your own VoIP service and using a VoIP phone or an  ATA (Analogue Telephone Adapter), but obviously that will involve extra expense.

Edit: Take a look at the last few posts in this thread: Asus Rapture GT-AC5300 and Vodafone THG3000 - Community home

Thank you. I did look at that during investigation, it looks like as you quite quite rightly said I’d have to use my own VOIP service via an ATA.

having never dabbled with SIP and VOIP before it’s going to be an adventure! I have signed up to sipgate as that’s a pay as you go provider
