Hi

Ive just bought a Vodafone K3770 PAYG Dongle.

I am using a Packard Bell laptop with vista.

I've plugged in the dongle, the sofrware loaded ok,after having to go to My Computer - right click on VMB drive and double click 'setup_vmb_lite_exe.

I click the 'connect' button, window appears 'opening mobile connection Vodafone UK 3G'.(see doc1 attached)

I then get another window stating:

Mobile connection not possible.(see doc2 attached)

-Set your current mobile device as the default

device under the 'Devices' tab in the Advanced window

-Ensure that no other applications are using your

mobile device and try again in a short while

-Delete the device under the 'Devices' tab in the advanced

window, add it back again, and then try connecting

-If you see the 'Account Type' option in the Options window,

check that the right account is selected for your SIM.

If this error persisits, please contact Support

at your mobile network operator

Support information:

RAS error code 631

I have done the above,Set your current mobile device as the default

device under the 'Devices' tab in the Advanced window

-Ensure that no other applications are using your

mobile device and try again in a short while.

Still I am unable to connect to internet through VMB.

HELP.....please help me this is driving me crazy!

Thank you

.

Hi burtie,

Thanks for your post about your dongle not connecting to the network.

Can you confirm for me the version of VMB you are using?

Also, will the dongle work in another machine?

Can you connect to the network without using VMB and rather using a DUN connection?

Here's how:

Control Panel

Phone and Modems

Modems Tab

Highlight the modem

Click Properties

Click advanced (in Vista you'll need to change the settings)

enter the below command:

at+cgdcont=1,"IP","internet" whereby you replace 'internet' with the name of the APN you are using.

Let me know how you get on.

Cheers,

Lee

Hi Lee

Thanks for replying to my message for help! Sorry it has taken soooo long to reply back, work seems to gets in the way of my social life he he

I have put the dongle into my other pc,which is using windows XP and there is no problem at all.All works well.

I have tryed to connect to the network without using VMB and rather using a DUN connection, following the instruction you gave me,but with no sucess 😞

I changed the settings to: at+cgdcont=1,"IP","pp.bundle.co.uk"..........I do believe this is the correct APN for my dongle as I have a PAYG with 30 days time expiring data allowance.

Any other suggestions welcome......

Thanks

Phil

Hi burtie

Thanks for coming back to us here.

The error 631 indicates that the connection has been terminated by something on your side of the connection, rather than ours. This could be the modem itself, or Windows.

If it was us disconnecting for any reason, for example, due to poor coverage, a timeout, or using the wrong APN, then you'd usually get an Error 619 or Error 31, indicating that the remote computer has terminated the connection.

Since you have tried the modem in another PC and everything is working fine we know that the modem is not the issue and it is something to do with your laptop.

The only thing left from our side to check is the software you are using. Can you go to the link below and download the latest version of the full software.

Vodafone Mobile Broadband

Please let me know how you get on but if this doesn’t work, you may need to speak to an independent IT specialist for further advice.

Thanks

Hi Wayne

Thank you for replying to my post.

I have followed your instructions, downloaded the latest software and hey presto I can now connect to the internet via my K3770 dongle.

However a window appears with the error code RAS 668. I just close this window and click on conect via VMB and I am conected. This error code keeps popping up when I am conected making me lose conection.

Could you tell me what this error code RAS 668 is all about!!??

Thanks for your help and thanks to Lee also for his help.

Hi burtie

Thank you for your post, I am glad you have been able to connect using your dongle! :smileyhappy:

It is a strange one though as the error code 668 shows when your computer has lost connection to the network and this would be resolved by updating to the latest software.

I appreciate you have just updated this, however please un-install the device and re-install this after rebooting.

Let me know how you get on.

Many Thanks
