Hello All
I have had the vodafone Gigafast 900mb service in Milton Keynes now for about 3 months and am getting only 500-600mb download speed on my PCs. My router is detecting the speed at 1000mb.
I have had a vodafone tech out but they have said that it is a known windows 10 issue.
I have updated all of the LAN drivers on all 3 of my PCs and replaced all of the network cables with Cat6, I have even upgraded the rubbish vodafone router with a Top of the Line Netgear XR500 but am still getting the slow speeds.
On the plus side my upload is around 1600mb
Has anyone else had this issue or any ideas on how to rectify this please.
I really dont need that much speed but as im paying for it it would be nice to get it working
Thanks Marc

Have you contacted our Gigafast team about this yet @Mozambezi?
We're not traffic shaping, and it's very unlikely that this is down to congestion. If you’re only having the issue on certain sites, or servers then there could be an problem further back on the network. Our Gigafast and 3rd lines teams will be able to help, they may need to pathpings and tracert's from you, but if we can locate where the bottleneck is occurring, we can get it sorted.

Hi,
I have been following a few of the topics in the forums with interest, and I thought i would post my experiences with Gigafast so far.
I chose the Gigafast 900/900 (due to the £9 discount as an existing vodafone customer) service which was installed roughly a month ago. Like many I have been having some streaming issues via Netflix / Prime video. One time Amazon prime Video came up with a warning "I do not have enough bandwidth to play this video" when trying to stream a 1080p link.
I use an NVIDIA Shield connected via Gigabit Ethernet within a few feet of the vodafone router.
I have been getting erratic speed tests results from speedtest.net / fast.com / think broadband some as low 30mbps down. I get similar results via two different computers that are also connected via gigabit Ethernet.
I have been in contact with vodafone support a few times for what seemed like an eternity trying to get through. I have been asked to email speed tests / traceroutes as requested for by the Level 3 support to look through. See what happens !!
Here is a traceroute from netflix.com - first is via vodafone - second is via a VPN.

Vodafone had same problems on VDSL 80/20. That time they were blaming BT infrastructure. However with specialist software it is easy to see what problems and congestion are on " Cable and Wireless " data centers belonging to Vodafone.
I feel now it is pointless to go with Gigafast . Regardless how much you pay , you will get portion of all users traffic. Roughly 65mbp/s off peak and 25mbp/s peak download.
BT broadband only deals now cheaper than VF and real throughout speed is constant as advertised. In my case 68/20 all 24/7.
I'm writing it to prevent people wasting their time with VF . Try to get something more decent

hello,
I recently upgraded all the ethernet switches in my house to gigabit because I got home internet that is faster than 100 Mbps. Somewhere along the way (I'm not sure exactly when), my main desktop's ethernet receive speed (download) slowed down and it seems to be limited to ~40 Mbps. Upload is fine on internet speed tests, and I can achieve the full 200 Mbps that I'm expecting for upload.https://www.lustysexstories.xyz/
To try to figure out what was going on, I used iperf between my desktop and another wired computer in my house, and the desktop seems to be able to send at 800 Mbps, but can only receive at 40 Mbps. If I take the
ethernet cable out of my desktop, and plug it into a laptop, the laptop will get the full 200 Mbps/200 Mbps that I'm expecting from an internet speed test.
This leads me to believe the problem really is with the desktop and its ethernet adapter. I've tried updating drivers, rebooting, using different ports/cables, and none of this has worked. My ethernet adapter is an Intel I219-V, and it's integrated into an Asus Prime X299-A motherboard, running Windows 10.
thanks

Thank you for the information. I'm about to have my fibre installation tomorrow which will replace the BT supply which regularly gives 97-80mbs but is twice the price. Fortunately the BT contract hasn't been cancelled.
