I'm nearly 24 hours since my broadband was activated and I wondered if someone could have a look at my router stats and let me know if I can expect the speeds to go any faster?

I would say not.. What did Vodafone say you would get when you signed up?
Were you with another FTTC supplier previously and what did you get there?
What does the BT checker say you should expect?

Sorry for the delayed reponse. It's within the range Vodafone supplied, it's just at the low end of it and wondered if there was any chance of it improving. I've just moved to the house so obviously no previous ISP. Is there a chance of the SNR changing to 5,4 or 3db, thus increasing the speed?
Here is the BT checker result:
Featured Products | D/S High | D/S Low | U/S High | U/S Low | Dstream Threshold (Mbps) | WBC FTTC Availability Date | WBC SOGEA Availability Date |
VDSL Range A (Clean) | 55 | 40 | 10.1 | 7 | 35 | Available | Available |
VDSL Range B (Impacted) | 54 | 35 | 10 | 6.5 | 27.5 | Available | Available |

I can't see your SNR reducing much, but I've not been on VF that long so my experience is limited.
The BT checker is usually quite accurate so I would be expecting a little more. Have you tried with the router connected to the test socket?

I've just connected it to the test socket. Connection has jumped to over 48mbit/s D/S and over 11 U/S. Dodgy faceplate?
To add to this, I've got a Master Socket 5C and there is an unused extension in another room.

Well that is better, it may be a faulty faceplate but I would be be more suspicious of incorrectly wired extensions.
If you aren't using the extensions why not try disconnecting them completely?

If you don't have the need for the extension then remove it! Now for the faceplate, there was a batch of dodgy ones a couple of years back, and there are even fake ones that show up on eBay - so they can be dodgy/go wrong. A working faceplate is generally going to be better quality than 99% of the plugin filters you'll find!
*I'm putting my money on those two unshielded wires that make up your extension, to be honest!
