Opting out of extras

marktimmis

Hello

Anyone else opted out of an extra to find, several months later, that they were still paying for that extra? I've had this problem in the past (opting out using the website) and I opted out of some other extras today, only to find they were still there when I logged back in - allowing me to opt out of them all over again. Which makes me wonder ... am I opted out now? Do I wait until the next billing cycle only to find I'm still being billed for those extras?
Thanks, Mark

Hey @marktimmis. We understand how alarming it must of been to find out that you were being charged for an Extra that you opted out of months prior. This isn't the smooth experience we want you to have.

Generally speaking, if you're on Pay Monthly and have opted out of an Extra you will receive confirmation via text message and/or email within a couple of minutes confirming your actions and that it'll take affect on your next billing cycle. If you didn't receive the aforementioned communication, it's very likely that your 'opt out' request wasn't processed.

Nonetheless, if you'd like us to take a closer look at the Extra(s) in question, please don't hesitate to get in touch with our Social Media team

Hello Jason

It's happened again.

On Friday, I opted out of "Anytime Landline & Mobile" (£8/month) and took a screenshot afterwards. It's still showing on MyVodafone and it says my future bill will be £8.00 . So, just like when I opted out of International 300, the website has reinstated it so that Vodafone can continue to charge me.

This is very concerning. Shall I put in a formal complaint to Vodafone prior to alerting Ofcom?

Thanks, Mark

@marktimmis - I can understand your concern and I don't want it to get to the stage of you needing to make a complaint. This is something my team can log and handle for you. We can also check your account to make sure it's now been removed and look at if you need any credits raising.

Hi Mark,

did you have any success opting out of the landline anytime calls 'extra'?

I've been trying to opt out for over 6 months and I'm still getting charged £8/month,
The Opt Out button doesn't seem to have any effect.

Reminds me of that line in the classic Eagles song - Hotel Claifornia:

'you can check out anytime you like, but you can never leave'

Cheers
