Android data use is shocking

Roaming in France and comparing my old BlackBerry Bold 9790 bridged to a PlayBook tablet and a new BB PRIV wified to a Tesco Hudl.

Visited exactly the same sites over 2 mornings - newspapers, BBC and similar number of emails.
Used Opera Mini on BB Bold and PRIV.
Mimised max app use and deleted Facebook.

PRIV - 276MB
Bold - 93MB

Clear that Vfone plan with 4GB/month roaming will be insufficient. And haven't even started to listen to internet radio, as I do on Bold.

Luckily, only 1 week into 30 day network guarantee, so looks like being ended.

Hi there

This is really down to the choice of handset rather than the network itself. Unfortunately, compared to the way BlackBerry OS handles data, every other handset is going to chew through data. BlackBerry OS does all sorts of clever stuff with data compression which means it uses a lot less.

It may be worth calling up and asking to be changed to a plan with a higher amount of data when you get back to the UK.

VF only have up to 4GB roaming on the plans that include roaming.
Unfortunately I can't transfer my current BB OS plan with a worldwide unlimited data roaming add on for £15/month to a new phone!!
And the poor old BB apps and support are dying away.
