Payg Sim In Usb Modem?

Spooner
Not applicable
Hi all,

Good to see such a useful forum. My question is, is it possible to put a PAYG sim (such as are obtainable from the Vodafone website) into a USB stick modem (an unlocked one) and use it for occasional browsing/email? I had a look at the 50p/day/25MB tariff and it looks like the T&Cs would allow this. Would the sim work okay in a USB modem though? If so, this would be the ideal solution for me to occasionally use my netbook to access my email and do a bit of light browsing when away from home.

Thanks in advance for your reply-

Hi Spooner and welcome to the eForum :)

This will work absolutely fine. Don't forget that 25MB on a laptop is a lot less than on a mobile. (To put this into perspective, the Facebook website is around 2MB just to load)

You would need to change the APN settings on the Vodafone Mobile Connect software

APN - pp.vodafone.co.uk
Username - wap
Password - wap

Let me know if you have any more questions and we'll be more than happy to help

Thanks

Wayne
