On 29th May I went into the West Bromwich store for a £20 top-up voucher which Raheem gave me, a quick and easy transaction. Today I went into a Vodafone store for another such and I was asked the dongle number which is not needed for a top up which I can put on myself. I ended up with a new SIM - the present one was still current - and I'll probably have to register instead this new one. Do different stores work differently?

It should be as easy as described in How-can-I-top-up-my-tablet-Mobile-Wi-Fi-device-or-data-dongle.
A new SIM certainly isn't a requirement.

Thank you Band of Brothers for that information. I was very puzzled to be told that the credit expires after 90 days and I would, as I'd said I didn't have the number as it's not necessary for a top up voucher, need a new SIM. It's the credit that expires not the SIM I thought. Anyway in future when I buy a top up I'll see if this happens again. Your help is appreciated.
