Solution

Unable to connect via mobile wifi

Hi, first post apologies if its a bit of a moan.

Bought a mobile wifi device from Voda (R218h) and signed up to a 50gb sim separately with the intention of using them on holiday.

Arrived in Turkey yesterday and have spend most of the time so far trying to connect!

My mobile can see the wifi connection but when connecting it says internet not available.

I have accessed http://vodafone mobile.wifi and the mobile broadband status says Vodafone TR and Disconnected.

Googled a few posts and have so far tried resetting the device and connecting using my partners mobile. Another post says change the APN in your device, but I can't even see that option.

Have attached some screenshots if someone can help?

Did you get everything working OK before you left the UK, or are you setting it up from scratch while abroad? If the latter, you could well be experiencing problems, as connection to the UK network is usually needed to get everything right at first attempt.

Another possibility is the APN. You seem to have acquired device and SIM separately. The device, if bought stand-alone, would possibly be set up for PAYG, but a 50GB SIM sounds like a Pay Monthly contract - the two types require different APNs.

You might find some useful information on https://deviceguides.vodafone.co.uk/vodafone/mobile-wi-fi-r218-windows-10/

There's also some information on additional software on https://www.vodafone.com/content/index/what/devices/vmb.html
