Connect a Netgear router to network with CAT 6 Cable

Hi,

 

I am trying to get internet to my garage which is 20m from my router. I’ve bought some CAT6 cable and routed it up there and attached my VF HHG2500 router to a Netgear WGR614 up the garage but no internet is appearing at the garage end. For the life of me I can’t work out what to do. 

I have no experience of what to do with networking internet beyond just plugging it in a crossing my fingers. On the VF app I’m not sure if I should change any security settings to allow it to be seen by the main router... or even if I’ve damaged the cable somehow routing it to the garage but I don’t think I have.? Bit baffled. If anyone is able to help I’d be very grateful.
