Share External HD on my new Vodafone WiFi Hub THG3000

I am trying to share my UBS pen drive on my new Vodafone Broadband Hub. I have been into the settings and checked it is there under expert settings, I have checked sharing is switched on under sharing. I have then been to "go" under my mac desktop menu and searched for smb://192.168.1.1/. Connecting as Guest option. I get a message saying there was a problem connecting to the server 192.168.1.1.  Please could you help me get connected. 

Once I am connected I am also wanting to know if I can connect to this HDD via my iPad as well as my MacBook.
