VoLTE availability

Anonymous
Not applicable

Why do you have staff that say things are available when they are not?

It’s very frustrating at how slow Vodafone are at getting reliability features going (even if they are half hearted efforts (WiFi Calling does not support SMS)).

So when is 4GCalling coming to iOS devices?

and why does WiFi calling not support SMS?

@Uno28 I've checked the postcode you've provided and their doesn't appear to be any problems in your area.
If you receive any further issues, please let us know.

Thanks John, The problem does keep happening to myself and a couple of friends too in different locations.

On Saturdau night around 09:40pm again the call dropped after 16mins 09 seconds in the sam postcode as before.

Then last night Sunday 23:00 call dropped after 16mins 15 secs this was LE2 4PE all these calls were using VOLTE on Samsung S8 running latest Vodafone software.

My friend had a dropped call on Saturday at 14:20 call dropped after 7 ins 8 secs this was around B42 2ET he also had call drop twice in London yesterday. This was using VOLTE on Sony XZ Premium

As mentioned previously the call just drops without any warning and in full signal static location, once the call drops you can call straight back, its just rather annoying.

@Uno28 - Thanks for coming back to us.

We’ll need to raise a case so that this can be investigated with our network engineers.

I’ve sent you a private message with how to send us your details.

Message for Natasha - Moderator.

Hello Natasha,

In your reply, it is stated that a Sony XZ from the network will work for 4G Calling:

https://support.vodafone.co.uk/Using-our-network/Vodafone-4G/1020759162/Who-can-get-4G-calling.htm#_...

I had a reply from Alex - Moderator that an unlocked Sony XZ will work on 4G Calling so long as I have a Red Plan.  Is this defintely correct?  My SIM only contract comes up for renewal at the end of January 2018 and I do not want to waste good money on an unlocked mobile that cannot use 4G Calling.

Please could you very confirm.

Thank you.

Hi @JamesBond, that's correct - with a Red Entertainment or Red Extra plan you'll be ready to add 4G calling to your Sony Xperia XZ when bought from us :Smiling:

Further confirmation can be found in the links that @Alex and I have provided.

If there's anything else we can help with, please let us know!

Hello Natasha - Moderator,

Sincere thanks for your reply.

I was asking about, if I purchased an unlocked Sony Xperia XZ ( brand new ) and I would continue with a Red SIM only contract after my current contract expires.  Would I still be able to receive / make 4G Calling ( VOLTE ) from this mobile?  I do like SIm only contracts particularly as I have Spotify.

Thank you.

@JamesBond To be able to use the 4G calling feature, the phone (as well as the plan) would need to be purchased directly from us.

I appreciate this may not be the answer you were hoping for. If you have any comments regarding this, we'll be happy to pass on your feedback,

Message for Colleen,

Hi Colleen,

Thank you for your reply.

Why is it that I had this reply previously?

@JamesBond The Sony Xperia XZ does support VoLTE (4G Calling).

You'd be able to get one of our great SIM only plans, alongside this device, and still benefit from VoLTE.

You just need to make sure you choose one of our Red plans from our SIM only deals - I'd recommend one of our Red Entertainment plans so you're also able to take advantage of this offer and pick between Spotify Premium, Sky Sports Mobile TV or a NOW TV Entertainment Pass 😉

If you're unsure if the plan you want includes VoLTE, simply click Choose plan and on the next screen you'll see a box the same as this.

As shown in the picture of our 40GB Red Entertainment plan, 4G calling is ticked off, meaning it's available on this plan and if you've got a compatible device

If there's anything else you're unsure about, be sure to post back on this thread and we'll be happy to assist further 😊

The message that this implies, is that the Sony Xperia XZ ( unlocked ) which I have been enquiring about does have VOLTE capabilities, and now the replies are not too clever.  I am very disappointed to say the least.

@JamesBond Thanks for raising this to us, I understand that some of the information is conflicting and can be confusing!
We've raised this to our specialist team so we can get the SIM only website amended.
To be able to use the 4G calling feature, the phone (as well as the plan) would need to be purchased directly from us.
@Uno28 I'm glad to see you're enjoying VoLTE! It seems like you're making great use out of it :Smiling:
