I have default showing up on my credit report from vodafone for the amount of £12 since January 2022. I was not with vodafone in 2022 and so I do not recognise this account nor the default. I have been in touch with vodafone multiple times already spending hours on the phone to customer service but no one seems to be able to locate this account number (6906723510). 

Yesterday vodafone customer service told me on the phone that this account number has been closed so the default should not show up. However. I checked my credit report again today and it shows that vodafone has updated and continued reporting default on this account. The latest update was made on 29 January 2025. I spoke to the credit report agency (transunion) and they are telling me that vodafone is continuing to report default so they cannot remove this from my system. 

I am extremely frustrated and stressed. This has been on my credit file for 3 years now, harming my score and therefore my life to make any financial applications. I don't even recognise the account, I was not with vodafone at the point of default. I cannot even resolve it because no one is able to locate the account nor tell me how to resolve/remove this. I have been on the phone for hours and hours, wasting my time and energy and it's going around in circles. I need this resolve ASAP.

I have a similar issue I had a missed payment on my account , paid it off in November of 2020 and it's saying I paid it in Aug 2023 on top of that the account is still showing as open .
