I receive about 1 call per week on average from a recorded message or call centre about PPI claims or about my recent accident suggesting that I am entitled to compensation... They are nuisance calls and so every time I press "9" or ask to be removed from their database. I also block the numbers on my phone from calling again and I now have over 20 of these numbers in my address book saved as spam and blocked (should I post these number here?)
I now however, get a lot of calls from "unknown"..
How can I get my number removed from these databases permanently to avoid getting these annoying calls?

Extending the brilliant idea that @fib_112358 mentions above..
I found a list on the vodafone website where they mention all of the numbers that they might call from - you can see ithe list under the topic "is it vodafone calling" here
Taking fib's idea, I've created a contact called "Vodafone" on my iPhone, and added each of the numbers to the contact. It now has its own ringtone (from Beethoven's 5th) and a rather fetching picture.
In all seriousness, this is a really useful tip - I've twice been the victim of identity theft, and as others on here have pointed out, it is all too easy to be hoodwinked by an official sounding person who claims to be "from vodafone". Having a liost of the REAL numbers that they might use, is spot on.
Incidentally, in the same article it mentions how to stop receiving Vodafone marketing calls... apparently "If you’d prefer not to receive any marketing-related calls from us, simply text STOP to 9774"
