I have just signed up for full fibre broadband. They are coming to install the fibre in two weeks.
The copper cable currently enters the house next to my front door where there was a phone socket. The phone socket that is now my master socket is in a different room about 10m away. There is nowhere near the door to mount any sort of box or any power outlets handy. Does this mean I'm going to have cables trailing through the house?

You haven't said whether it'll be via openreach or Cityfibre. In either case, as the ONT needs power the fibre will be run externally to a convenient point near a socket (usually the living room, or occasionally a bedroom if it's more convenient to yourselves and the engineer. The old copper is generally left in place.

@stewalsop In my experience the engineers tend to be reasonably flexible with where they'll install new fibre too however it will almost certainly be an external wall and as @Ripshod mentioned it'll need to be near a power socket, ideally a double as you'll have both ONT and Router that will need plugged in.
Have a look at the links in this article there's lots of info about how to prepare for it in there.
The process is slightly different depending on whether you're being connected by Openreach or Cityfibre but there are links to videos from both on that page 😀
