Gigafast VOIP Settings issue & Speed issue- Anyone experienced this?

Hi All,

I am wondering if anyone can assist, I despite the bad reviews I made the jump in getting Gigafast connection with Vodafone. I was previously with BT and had a usual landline. I made the jump mainly because no line rental for the phone and because Vodafone sold it to me as a VOIP line. The broadband was 3x faster then my BT fibre line of 76mb.

I had it installed last week but I have had nothing but problems from the get-go, It took them two days to activate my landline on my router which I ported number over, It was supposed to activate on the day of the installation.

The first issue has been I cannot get over 200mbps when I am on the 900 package. I get 800 uploads but not download. After various diagnostics, it's now sat with level 2 team awaiting a solution. Initially, the techs thought it was my equipment this was ruled out by trying 3 different laptops, 1 USB gigabit ethernet port I had to get to test on, and new Vodafone router. Still, no luck now awaiting a solution. What's worse is when I use my own Netgear Nighthawk D7800 router connected via the VAN port I get even slower speeds of 100mbps download and 80mbps upload and I cannot see why that is the case, Vodafone doesn't support 3rd party routers so I have not asked them for any help. Unsure if this is linked to my speed issue but content control does not work, some websites are not reachable mainly adult/gambling ones, although the content control is off, it still seems to be filtering the websites.

My main issue that despite vodafone selling the line as a VOIP they are not willing to give out the settings, I have spoken to several call agents as the chat for gigafast does not exist and they give you a number. Some of which have supplied me below details but do not work with my Grandstream telephone VOIP adapter or gigaset DECT phones. Despite speaking to various managers they are unwilling to give these details. Has anyone else managed to set up VOIP with the details provided? they gave the below but does not work for me yet there is some comments on the forum saying some users have managed to set it up. I seriously cannot see the point of a VOIP line if your not going to allow you to use your own phones instead want the customer to plug it into your router. For me this is not an option due the physical location of the router and because I am looking to use my own that does not have telephone VOIP built-in hence the need of the settings to set up my own phone and telephone adapter.

Anyone suggest anything? I am looking to use my 14 days cooling-off period and leave Vodafone due to my numerous issues but awaiting to see if the level 2 team can fix the speed issue.

Hey there @PatientFlake, I understand you've been speaking with our Gigafast team regarding your speeds and setting up your phone with your router. As they're our dedicated specialists, should you have any further questions regarding this or need any updates please do give them a call again on 191 from your Vodafone mobile or 03333 040 191 from any other line.

Just an update for anyone who comes across this thread.....

1. Vodafone is the worse company for customer service. I would never recommend them to anyone.

2. They gave some VOIP details but not enough to set up a Telephone Adaptor or VOIP phone. They refused to give out any further details. Therefore selling their service as VOIP service is misleading.

3. The speed issue could not be resolved, For some reason, my line could only support 500, not the 900 I was signed up for, In fact I could not even get the 500 as I was only getting 200 or 250ish, I terminated my contract,

Hi,

Wondering if you managed to make any progress in respect the above (Settings)? Reason being is I'm also looking to configure a Grandstream telephone VOIP adapter for use with Gigafast.

Thanks,

DZ

Hello Bud,

No bud, I spoke to every department, spoke to Gigafast team, their technical VOIP team, various managers,  but simply not willing to give out the info, what they have given out is insufficient. Also speaking to all their call staff one a thing is clear is, they are inconsistent, half telling you can't have them, half saying these settings should work. The internet says some people have managed to set it up but I'm yet to find someone who has and the settings used.

Your better off going to dedicated VOIP company like Yay or Sipgate which is what I have done. I would keep my package if they were willing to give out this info which they are not, From a technical point of view and business point of view it makes no sense whats so ever, as its no skin off their nose but they are not willing to listen. Why sell and advertise as a VOIP line without giving out the settings.

In the future they will be forced to give out details because of the compentition but since its new to Vodafone at the minute they are not. Save your self some hassle and time, go with another provider. Its huge concept but their customer services is non-existent, you will see all over the internet. Sadly the company is too big to care.

PatientFlake, I agree in Vodafone's customer service leaves a lot to be desired. However, they're the only option available for FTTH in my area!!

In regards to the SIP / VOIP info; would you be able PM me the info you've already been able to obtain? Reason being is I might have a couple of options in regards to querying the information with a source connected to Vodafone.

Hi Bud,

The details that I have are the ones at the top post. The first two are unique to you and only Vodafone will supply them, keep calling them, some of the call handlers will give the info out, some wont but you need to find someone who will.

Do report back any success, Few posts on here saying people have managed to get the details and make it work but not heard from anyone who has yet. Vodafone themselves say they dont give out this info.

Did you make any progress with this? I'd like to use a third party router for features that aren't on the vodafone router. However we'd lose access to our VOIP line.

I've received the same details as PatientFlake, and have also not been able to connect a VOIP phone.

Managed to make some limited progress; although not yet managed to get it fully working!

I've heard there may be a way of gaining deeper access to the standard (THG3000) router (Many be via alternative password, as SSH / Telnet access appear to be blocked); but haven't found any details. Talking to a colleague, they suspect there could be additional information within the voice profile on the router (e.g. DNS specifically used to resolve the SIP servers).

If anyone has any info regarding gaining deeper access to the standard (THG3000) router, please advise as I plan to continue looking into matters.

So, looking over various log files it appears neither the SIP outbound proxy or registrar server (see below) can be resolved (Anyone been provided with the actual IPs?). The result being the registration process can't complete.

SIP Outbound Proxy: xxxx.xx.bbvoice.vodafone.co.uk

SIP Registrar Server: resvoip.vodafone.co.uk

The only Vodafone DNS servers I can find are 90.255.255.90 and 90.255.255.255 (Anyone know of others?).

Therefore, without either the ability to resolve the SIP addresses, or the actual IPs I don't see how we'll be able to get VOIP working via Vodafone (Would need to use an alternate provider).
